PSYCHOLOGY

The term “psychology” is a component that originates from the Greek psyche = spirit, soul, life, mind, breath and logos = speech, study, reasoning. So, literally, psychology means the study of the spirit or soul.

The meaning of the term remained unchanged until the sixteenth or seventeenth centuries, when a new meaning was added to it in the sense of “the science of consciousness.” Modern psychology is a natural and social science that deals with brain processes and their expression in behavior. Psychology seeks through systematic empirical research to gain knowledge of the causes and behaviors of humans (and animals), and of how humans experience the world in which they live.

Psychic processes include thoughts, feelings, and motivations. Historically, psychology was the discipline of philosophy, from which it separated itself in 1879 with the establishment of the first psychology laboratory in Leipzig. It was not until 1980 that psychology became recognized as a natural science.

TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

Turkish belongs to the Turkic group of languages, among them the Turkish language of the Balkan Gagauz, Gagau and Horasian Turkish, with the addition of Ottoman Turkish. The Turkic language family is a subgroup of Ogu languages, which is again a subset of languages that most linguists believe belong to the Altai language group.

Turkish is spoken in Turkey and is also spoken by minorities in 35 countries. Turkish is especially wide-spoken in countries that were (wholly or partly) part of the Ottoman Empire, such as Bulgaria, Romania, Kosovo and Northern Macedonia.

There is a high degree of mutual understanding between Turkish and other Oguz languages, such as Azerbaijani, Turkmen and Kashkay.
